Harmony's Contemplative Trails and Clearings
5km of trails, interpretive walks, forest gardens, wild forage, creeks, clearings, magnificent views.
Introducing Devas, elementals, native plants, medicinal herbs, and animals.
Many sacred trails begin with a refreshing pause at our Gateway Creek, where a guided contemplation starts your journey with the sacred.
Each journey, custom designed for your personal enjoyment, offers many opportunities for self-discovery among the many unique plants and animals of Harmony Forest, a representative part of this great land. Summer, winter, spring or autumn - there is an inner journey you can take with us.
Five kilometres of special named trails wait to guide you on specific personal journeys. By strictly limiting visitor numbers we are able to provide you with trails that bring New Zealand native ferns, trees, and tree ferns so close to you that you touch them and they you, as you walk in their company.
A special invitation will also be given to you to adopt or plant a perennial New Zealand herb, bush or tree, from among the 20 hectares (50 acres) of bush and herbs at Harmony Forest. When you care for a plant it carries and connects your energy to the land. It grows as you grow and you may return in your heart to this plant at any time. Wherever you journey this plant will be with you, and a yearly photographs emailed to you renews your connection, so you may always see how your native "friend" is.

When you are invited to visit
A day fee of $12 per person is paid in advance. A free pass is given to volunteers, who learn their choices of track building, trail maintenance, forest gardening, permaculture, organic gardening, and earth-building while helping maintain and develop Harmony Forest. This free day pass is also extended to clients, course students, sponsors, and registered caretakers of Harmony trees.
When you arrive at our boundary open your heart and think of your intentions. Once you enter your presence will be acknowledged inwardly and you may be approached openly by birds, trees, and others of us.
You have been given special permission to visit Harmony Forest by yourself. This means you are someone we trust. Some of us, whom you meet at Harmony, will actively encourage participation in conscious relationship, others of us will attend to other missions as you attend to yours.
We require that you explore this conscious relationship, as Soul. If you wish to smoke, drink, or take other substances to alter your state of consciousness do so outside of Harmony.
Harmony's trail names inspire contemplation of life's journey. Self guided tour brochures for interpretive walks illustrating Harmony regeneration, native plant recognition, and herbal medicines may also be downloaded below. Guided tours within Harmony and to nearby areas with experienced guides are conducted for $12 per person per hour (minimum of 4 people for one to eight hours).
Harmony's trail map is available to booked clients on site or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Harmony Farm, 239 Waitati Valley Rd, RD 2 Waitati, Dunedin 9085, New Zealand or from:

On the trails be aware of natural bush hazards. We do regular checks to clear trails but the winds of change blow quickly at times. Unless it is an immediate threat to life or limb, please simply note and report location and nature of hazards, leaving them as they are; unless you are experienced in bush track maintenance, recognise native plants, and will take full self-responsibility for your actions.
The only hunters, traps, guns, or baits permitted are those contracted for government possum Tb control programs. Cats, dogs, domestic and farm animals may be kept inside vehicles in the outer parking area, outside the gate only. Please respect that access to Harmony for any Being is by invitation only. If you perceive any wild animal to be a threat to yourself or Harmony, ask it, as it may ask you, if it is present in the interests of Harmony.
